Who Are We and What Is Our Purpose?

A DIVERSE GROUP OF PARENTS, YOUTH, CHILDREN AND SERVICE PROVIDERS COLLABORATING FOR TRANSFORMATION

In December, 2006, sponsored by Flintridge Foundation, Yoland Trevino, Principal of Transformative Collaborations International (TCI), started a series of Workshops and Dialogues on the Appreciative Inquiry Approach that lasted for 8 months. The Coalition of Transformative Leaders from Pasadena & Altadena decided to maintain its weekly meetings and started actively collaborating as bridge builders with the community. PACTL decided to incorporate in December 2010 and formed a Board of Directors that include professionals, Parents, Community Residents and Youth.

"The Pasadena/Altadena Coalition of Transformative Leaders (PACTL.ORG) serves as the transformative catalyst and community voice for unifying diverse interests of youth, parents and professionals to shape social policy that promotes a caring community by creating a safe and loving space for collective wisdom and action."

PACTL's Mission is to reweave the social fabric of diverse communities to help residents become active participants in their health and education through activities and services that build the capacity for youth, parents and professionals.

We are committed to fostering collaboration among youth, parents, professionals, and community stakeholders to create sustainable change and build stronger, more inclusive neighborhoods.

PACTL'S Vision is to serve as the transformative catalyst and community voice for unifying the diverse interests of youth, parents and professionals to shape social policy and put collective wisdom into action.

We envision a future where all community members have equal access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making processes, creating a safe and loving space for collective wisdom and action.

Our principles are our foundation for organizing:

  • We have an approach that includes Appreciative Inquiry and other inclusive engagement approaches.
  • We have an inclusive approach to fundraising: We invite our community to be contributors.
  • Our leadership is based on the Servant Leadership model.
  • We see ourselves as care-takers and value reciprocity and mutual benefits that are generated.
  • We model a different way of engagement: Action-engagement with measurable and sustainable results.
  • We choose to explore alternatives instead of complaints
  • We support the manifestation of the innate potential of every individual.
  • We work as memory and consciousness awakeners: We are here to help you remember who you are and what you already have.
  • We embody a paradigm of abundance.
  • We recognize the greatness of every individual as contributors and agents of change.
